Modern Hire came to life in 2019 through the merger of Shaker International and Montage Talent, two innovative HR technology companies with decades of experience helping forward-thinking organizations transform their hiring processes. In 2020, recognizing Sonru’s impressive global footprint and comparable mission and vision, Modern Hire absorbed Sonru to form a global company with experts worldwide, including in the United States, Canada, Ireland, Singapore, Australia, United Kingdom, and New Zealand.

Shaker International was founded in Cleveland, Ohio in 2002 with a mission to create better, more predictive hiring experiences for candidates and organizations alike. Leveraging almost two decades of rigorous, data-driven science powered by the latest technology capable of delivering proven results for leading global brands, Shaker International brought predictive talent intelligence to the Modern Hire equation with their award-winning, AI-enabled assessment solutions.
Montage Talent took shape in Delafield, Wisconsin in 2009 with its single solution to engage, interview, and hire better candidates, faster. Partnering with many of the world's most well-respected brands, Montage worked to create a high-tech, high-touch hiring experience for modern candidates. Montage's commitment to superior client service and support was unsurpassed in the interview technology world, helping each client at every stage of partnership and building relationships for the long term.
Meanwhile, in Ireland, Sonru was carving out their position as the international leader in asynchronous video interviewing. Founded in 2011, Sonru’s focus on stellar candidate experience and ethos of educating the recruitment industry on emerging video technology saw the company expand across Europe and Asia Pacific. Established as a thought leader in the space, the following decade saw Sonru work with leading global organizations and develop strong industry partnerships, allow for a more integrated and seamless recruitment process.
